Description
Hylomar Universal Jointing Compound is a world-renowned, non-setting, non-hardening polyester urethane-based sealing compound originally developed in conjunction with Rolls-Royce aerospace. It produces an instant, high-integrity elastomeric seal across closely machined metal faces and flange assemblies. Because it never hardens or cures into a brittle solid, it maintains complete seal integrity under severe dynamic vibration, joint expansion, and extreme thermal cycling.

Applications

- Pipe flanges, fluid fittings, and precision instrumentation joints handling hydrocarbons
- Pre-coating traditional paper, cork, or composite gaskets to prevent fluid weeping
Usage & Handling Notes
- Ensure mating surfaces are clean, degreased, and dry prior to application.
- Apply a thin, uniform coating to both flange faces and allow a few moments for the carrier solvent to flash off before torquing down.
- Surfaces can be easily disassembled at any time, even after prolonged high-temperature exposure; excess compound can be wiped off with acetone or alcohol.
